TUESDAY*, NOVEMBER 7, 1950 Weather Monday: High 68, low 30 ... . There are so many ac tivities underway in the community now that if a person is bored there is something wrong with him. He should go to a specialist. The Riding & Hunt Club is on the ball; the Chamber of Commerce has half a dozen projects underway. The Chamber of Commerce Industrial Committee will meet Wednesday morning at 9:30 fit the Tryon Bank & Trust Co., to work out plans with those citizens interest ed in bringing the new industry to Columbus. Any public spirited citizen who desires to help provide jobs for many worthy people now has an opportunity. About $13,000 is needed. What can you donate? It is rfiuch better to help people help themselves by providing good jobs than to give the money out right. Every property owner and business will profit directly „or in directly from the new industry. Every church, charitable and civic organization will also benefit. So when you give to this fund, you help the worker get a job, you add hew members, new workers and new money to the organiza tions you are interested in. Look into the matter and give what you can. Your property will become more valuable because people will —Continued on Back Page__ NEW FALL EVENT FOR TRYON ON DECEMBER 9 The "-yon Riding & Hunt Club it1 about for a new fall ■$v ^ struck upon an original £°e -a, something never tried before in this country it js believed—a triple event to include Hunter Trials, Bench Show and Pack Field Trials,' planned for visiting Masters of Hounds, their Field and 4 couples of hounds. The triple event will be held Saturday, December 9th. Invita tions to participate have been ex tended to Packs and Hounds at Aiken, Camden, Southern Pines, Shakerag Hounds of Atlanta, and the Tryon Hounds. Four packs have already accepted. About 50 owners and riders from the various hunts are expected to participate. All will be in hunt ing colors and local officials ex pect the event to be the most color ; ful ever held here. Trophies and ribbons will be awarded in all classes. The day’s program will open at 10 o’clock on the Herbert Oliver estate in the Hunting Country where the Hunter Trials will be held, and will include lightweight hunters, amateurs to ride; middle and heavy weight hunters, ama teurs to ride; and hunt teams of three hunters. In this last class a professional who is a staff mem ber may ride. I Immediately following the Hun [ ter Trials there will be a Bench Show for Hounds of all Packs, with classes as follows: Best Dog Hound, Best Bitch Hound, Best Pack of 4 couples.
